FireEye Gets $14.5M For Botnet Security

Milpitas-based FireEye has raised $14.5M in a third round of funding, the company said this morning. The round was led by DAG Ventures, and also included Juniper Networks, JAFCO Ventures, SVB Capital, Norwest Venture Partners (NVP) and Sequoia Capital. FireEye is developing security software targeted at combating botnets--commandeered computers being used to send spam, hack into businesses, and for phishing and fraud. The round brings the company's total raised to $34.5M. FireEye said the funding will go towards further development of its products, plus sales and marketing.
