HP Hits Milestone On EDS Acquisition

Palo Alto-based HP said today that the firm's waiting period, under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976, has expire. The firm said that it has not received a request for additional information from the U.S. Department of Justice or the FTC. The company said its acquisition of EDS is still subject to EDS stockholder approval and clearance from the EU and other countries. HP proposed to buy EDS, a major provider of IT consulting services, in a $13.9B deal in May.
