San Mateo-based Marketo, a developer of marketing automation tools, said this morning that it has acquired Crowd Factory, a developer of social marketing campaign management software. Financial details of the acquisition were not announced. Crowd Factory supplies its software to clients such as Molson Coors, Sony Music, Jive Software, Quickoffice and British Telecom. Crowd Factory was venture backed by Hummer Winblad Venture Partners, Peninsula Ventures, and Storm Ventures. Marketo is venture backed by Battery Ventures, Institutional Venture Partners, InterWest Partners, Mayfield Fund and Storm Ventures.
