WeatherBill Expands Weather Insurance Coverage
San Francisco-based WeatherBill, a startup which offers businesses weather-related insurance, said today that it has added 170 new weather station locations to its network. The service allows businesses to buy localized weather insurance, in case of adverse weather conditions. WeatherBill is funded by New Enterprise Associates, Index Ventures, and was founded by former Google employees. The firm also has backing from Nephila Capital, a weather risk and catastrophe reinsurance fund.
