San Francisco-based Linden Lab, which operates the Second Life virtual world, said Tuesday that it has acquired two web-based, virtual marketplaces. According to Linden Lab, it acquired Xstreet SL and OnRez, which both provide online shopping for customers and merchants. Financial terms of the buys were not disclosed. Linden Lab said the move will make it easier for its users to find virtual goods to purchase, and provide a broader channel to merchants. Xstreet SL provides an online catalog of Second Life-related virtual goods and services. OnRez will be merged into the Xstreet SL platform.
