Google Enhances Local Search
Mountain View-based Google has launched a new effort to provide better local search results, saying today that the firm is now using users' IP addresses to help pinpoint their location on searches. According to Google, it is using location information derived from user IP addresses to guess geographical locations, and will return searches on generic terms like "restaurants" or "dentists" with localized information
