has launched a new effort to provide better local search results, saying today that the firm is now using users' IP addresses to help pinpoint their location on searches.
According to Google
, it is using location information derived from user IP addresses to guess geographical locations, and will return searches on generic terms like "restaurants" or "dentists" with localized information
