Sigma Designs Buys CopperGate Communications
Milpitas-based Sigma Designs, a developer of semiconductors for media processors and the wireless industry, announced this morning that it is in a definitive acquisition agreement with Israeli semiconductor firm CopperGate Communications Ltd.. Sigma said it will pay $160M in cash and stock for CopperGate. CopperGate develops semiconductors for the broadband market, including chipsets for the coax, phone, and power networking market. Sigma is being advised by UBS Securities LLC in the deal.
