Google, Facebook Both Launch URL Shorteners
Monday was a busy day for URL shortening services, with both Google and Facebook launching their own services for shortening long web addresses. Google said it has created goo.gl, the Google URL Shortener, which works with the firm's Google Toolbar and FeedBurner services; Google's service is currently not available as a stand-alone service, the firm said. Facebook's own URL shortener is fb.me, and has recently been showing up in shortened mobile links.
