Stripe which develops software to help offload the handling of credit cards for developers, has acquired a three man startup, Kickoff, a developer of chat and task management applications. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Stripe develops a mobile, online payment system which helps developers handle the complexity and myriad of rules around accepting credit cards, so that they don't have to set up a merchant account or deal with PCI and other security issues. According to one of Kickoff's designers, they had already been doing work for Stripe on a freelance basis.
