![]() Monday, June 30, 2008 Virage Logic Buys Impinj Unit Fremont-based Virage Logic said today that it has acquire the non-volatile memory (NVM) intellectual property business of Impinj, in a deal worth $5.2M. Virage Logic said the buy includes Impinj's logic NVM IP and added more than 50 Impinj patents to its IP portfolio. Virage Logic also said it has hired approximately 30 former Impinj employees involved in the business. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. PixVerse was venture backed by Venrock. PixVerse develops a virtual world based on Adobe's Flash software. Google, which said that it will sell DoubleClick's Performics Search operations to a third party in April, said that the new branding is a part of an effort to quickly assimilate the business and teams of the firms. According to the company, it has added integration to Facebook and OpenSocial social networking sites, and unique personal identification numbers which help users control their data. According to Adaptec, the deal covers all of its brand and assets related to its Snap Server networked and desktop storage appliances, but does not include its iSCSI-based products. Adaptec said the deal will streamline the company's operations, and that it will retail ownership of its iSCSI-based hardware and software products, which will be rebranded by Adaptec. Openwave said that the deal is worth $30M in cash, plus an additional $2M if certain conditions are met. The deal also includes warrants for 2 percent of Purple Labs common stock. The firm said that it has not received a request for additional information from the U.S. Department of Justice or the FTC. The company said its acquisition of EDS is still subject to EDS stockholder approval and clearance from the EU and other countries. The round came from Benchmark Capital, along with prior investors Emergence Capital and Shasta Ventures. Lithium's software is used to create online communities; the software is being used by such companies as AT&T, Dell, and PayPal.
