    Conviva Adds $20M
    San Mateo-based Conviva announced Monday that the firm has raised $20M in a Series B investment, for the firm's video distribution platform. The firm said the funding was led by UV Partners. Prior investors New Enterprise Associates and Foundation Capital also participated. Conviva said the funding will go towards product and business development. The round brings the company's total raised to $29M.

    Demandbase Gets $8M
    San Francisco-based Demandbase, which develops a service for finding and managing B2B sales prospects and leads, said today that the firm has raised $8M in a venture funding round. The round was led by Sigma Partners, and also included prior investors Altos Ventures and Adobe Systems. Demandbase said the new funding will used to grow the firm. Bob Spinner of Sigma joins the firm's board along with the funding.

    Salesforce.com Names Exec
    Salesforce.com reported Monday that it has hired Steve McWhirter as president of its Asia-Pacific operations. The San Francisco-based publisher of hosted customer relationship management software said McWhirter will be based out of its Singapore office and will report to Jim Steele, the company's chief customer office and international operations president. Salesforce.com described McWhirter as a 20-year sales and marketing veteran who most recently served as vice president of HP Software Asia P (More info...)

    AMD Sells Digital TV Business
    AMD said today that it has sold its digital TV business to semiconductor firm Broadcom. According to Broadcom, it will pay approximately $192.8M in cash in exchange for AMD's digital TV business, and will also hire around 530 employeed of AMD's digital TV team. AMD's digital TV unit develops ICS and processors used for digital TV processing.
