    Technorati Buys Blogcritics
    San Francisco-based blog search and social media site Technorati announced Tuesday that the firm has acquired Blogcritics.org, an online community of bloggers. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. According to Technorati, the acquisition will give it more advertising inventory for the firm, and will also allow it to work with Blogcritics authors to help them monetize their own blogs.     Brand.net Raises $10M
    San Mateo-based Brand.net, an online advertising network focused on brands, said Tuesday that it has raised $10M in a Series B funding round. The round was led by Norwest Venture Partners, and also included prior investor InterWest partners. Brand.net operates an online advertising network which specifically focuses on Fortune 100 brands.     HP Wraps Up $13.9B Purchase of EDS
    Palo Alto-based computer consulting and manufacturing giant Hewlett-Packard announced today that it has concluded its record-setting acquisition of Electronic Data Systems Corp. HP said the $13.9 billion deal— first reported on May 13—represents the largest transaction, in terms of value, in IT services sector history.     hi5, Widgetbox Link On Widgets
    San Francisco-based Widgetbox, which operates an online site focused on web widget software, said today that it has linked up with online social networking site hi5. According to Widgetbox, hi5 will include widgets created by Widgetbox users. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.     Aptana Buys Pydev
    San Mateo-based Aptana, a developer of web infrastructure and application management tools, said this morning that it has acquired Pydev, a developer of an integrated development environment for the Python software language. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Pydev's IDE is based on the open source Eclipse IDE software.     Qik Adds Andreessen, Horowitz As Investors
    Foster City-based Qik, which develops a interactive live video streaming service, said this morning that it has scored a "significant investment" in the company from Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz. Financial terms of the funding were not disclosed. Both of the two join Qik's board of advisors as part of the deal.
