    SupportSoft Sells Enterprise Business To Consona
    Redwood City-based SupportSoft reported late Tuesday that the firm has completed its sale of its Enterprise software business to Consona Corporation, in a deal worth $20.0M. The firm said in conjunction with the sale, the firm has renamed itself support.com. The firm said it will now focus on its consumer business, which provides technology support and help via the Internet and phone.

    Tensilica Gets Strategic Investment
    Santa Clara-based Tensilica disclosed Monday that the firm has received a strategic investment from DOCOMO Capital. Financial terms of the funding were not announced. DOCOMO Capital is the venture capital arm of Japanese wireless carrier NTT DOCOMO. Tensilica develops semiconductors, focused on CPUs and DSPs which are used in mobile phones and other consumer devices.     Tesla Gets $465M DOE Loan
    San Carlos-based Tesla Motors has finally received approval for around $465M in low interest loans from the U.S. Department of Energy for the firm's electrical vehicles, the firm said Tuesday. Tesla said that it will use $365M of those loans for production engineering and assembly of the firm's upcoming Model S, an all-electric family sedan, which the firm is targeting for production in 2011.     Marking End Of An Era, Kodak Discontinues Kodachrome Film
    Marking the end of an era, Kodak said Monday that it is discontinuing its hallmark KODACHROME film, saying that the film "represents a fraction of one percent of our film sales." The film has been available for the last 72 years, and was for awhile Kodak's flagship film. The film had been replaced in Kodak's film line by newer, more environmentally friendly and easier-to-process films, plus, the number of labs capable of developing the film had fallen to just one.     Socialtext Launches Free Offering
    Palo Alto-based Socialtext reports this morning that the firm has launched a new, free version of the firm's tools. According to the firm, Socialtext Free 50 will offer use of its tools for up to 50 people within an organization, including access to the firm's micro-blogging, social networking, weblog publishing, and wiki tools. The firm said the move is looking to reach more mainstream users by offering the "freemium" version of its software, which can also be upgraded to its premium off (More info...)

    AMAT Shuffles Joint Venture
    Santa Clara-based Applied Materials reports that it has modified a joint venture the firm has with Japanese firm Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. According to Applied Materials, they have signed an agreement to modify the ownership structure of joint venture Sokudo Co., Ltd. AMAT has reduced its ownership to 19% of the joint venture, down from an original 48% interest.     Xignite Releases Financial Data Service
    San Mateo-based Xignite reported today that the firm has launched its web service for distributing financial data, XigniteOnDemand. According to the firm, the new offering allows exchanges, multilateral trading facilities, brokers, and other data owners to sell their market data through Web services. Xignite offers real time stock quotes, stock prices, company information, charting, and other market data all accessible via an API.     Conduit Launches Content Sharing Effort
    San Mateo-based Conduit, a provider of web toolbars, said this morning that it has launched an effort to allow web publishers to tap content from other companies using its software. According to Conduit, its new Conduit Open initiative allows web publishers to access content from other publishers.
