    Google, Facebook Both Launch URL Shorteners
    Monday was a busy day for URL shortening services, with both Google and Facebook launching their own services for shortening long web addresses. Google said it has created goo.gl, the Google URL Shortener, which works with the firm's Google Toolbar and FeedBurner services; Google's service is currently not available as a stand-alone service, the firm said.     Clarizen Gets $8M
    San Mateo-based Clarizen, a developer of project management software-as-a-service, announced Monday that it has raised $8M in a Series C funding round. The funding was led by DAG Ventures, Benchmark Capital, and Carmel Ventures. The firm said the new funding will go to expand its marketing and sales, as well as for its product innovation.

    Cendana Capital Launches Fund-of-Funds
    San Francisco-based Cendana Capital said today that it has launched a new, fund-of-funds investing in private equity, headed by Michael Kim, most recently partner at venture firm Rustic Canyon Partners. According to Kim, the new San Francisco firm will invest in both non-traditional private equity and venture capital investments. Kim was also previously a trustee of the $13 billion San Francisco Employees Retirement System.

    Adaptec Names Worldwide Sales VP
    Milpitas-based Adaptec, a developer of network and storage adapters, said today that it has named Jared Peters as Vice President of Worldwide sales at the firm. Peters has been at Adaptec for 16 years, and was most recently VP International Sales for the company. Peters has also served at Conner Peripherals.

    California Micro Devices Acquired By ON Semiconductor
    Milpitas-based California Micro Devices, a manufacturer of power protection ICs and components, has been acquired by ON Semiconductor, ON said today. ON said it is paying approximately $108M in cash, or $4.70 per share, for California Micro Devices. ON Semiconductor said the deal will "significantly strengthen" the firm's offerings in application specific, integrated passive devices for protecting products in the wireless, computing and consumer electronics markets.     TwitVid.com Adds Real Time Search, Video Analytics, Gifting
    San Francisco-based TwitVid.com, a site which links videos to Twitter, has rolled out a trio of new features for the service today. The site--a project of EatLime--said it now allows users to see the most popular videos being shared, real-time, on Twitter, ranking those videos based on search terms and popularity.
