    DotNetNuke Raises $8M
    San Mateo-based DotNetNuke, which makes web development software for Microsoft's .NET, said Tuesday that it has raised $8M in a Series B funding round. The round was led by UV Partners, and also included August Capital and Sierra Ventures. DotNetNuke said the new funding will go towards product development, as well as marketing and sales.

    Google Launches Google Buzz
    Mountain View-based Google launched Google Buzz, a social networking software component to the firm's Gmail email program, on Tuesday. The firm said the new software allows people to share photos, videos, and links, as well as tie to services such as Twitter, directly through Gmail. Google said it will roll out the service to all of its Gmail accounts over the next few days.

    VMOps Gets $8.8M
    Cupertino-based VMOps, a developer of cloud computing management software, has raised $8.8M in a funding round, part of an ongoing $11M Series B fundraising effort, according to a regulatory filing by the firm Tuesday. Details on the funding have not been released. The firm lists Redpoint Ventures and Nexus Venture Partners as backers. VMOps was founded by Sheng Liang, who developed Sun's Java Virtual Machine (JVM).

    TwoF Nabs $2.1M
    San Mateo-based TwoF, a developer of proprietary technology for production of DNA microarrays, has raised $2.1M in an ongoing, $3.0M funding round, according to a regulatory filing by the firm this week. No details on the funding have been released. TwoF is commercializing technology from MIT, at facilities in Italy.

    LiveScribe Ups Funding To $13.5M
    Oakland-based LiveScribe has upped its Series B funding to $13.5M, according to a regulatory filing by the firm today. According to the filing, the round is part of an earlier, Series B the firm announced in March of 2009. Source of the new funding was not disclosed. liveScribe has previously raised funding from Aeris Capital, Lionheart Investments, and VantagePoint Venture Partners. LiveScribe is a maker of digital pen devices which capture handwriting.

    ClientMagic Software Acquired
    Folsom-based ClientMagic Software, a developer of scheduling and business management software for salons and spas, has been acquired. According to MINDBODY, a developer of software for the salon industry, it acquired ClientMagic to expand its software into hair, nail, and skin salons. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. MINDBODY said it has hired Stewart E. Skiff, the founder of ClientMagic, as well as the firm's technical staff.

    Redpoint Closes $400M, Redpoint IV Fund
    Menlo Park-based Redpoint Ventures has closed on a new venture capital fund, Redpoint IV, the firm said Monday evening. The firm said it will use the fund to invest in social and mobile Internet, cloud computing and clean technology companies. Redpoint said the new fund comes after the fund's entrepreneurs gained over $2B in liquidity over the last six months, including Fortinet's IPO, and acquisition of LifeSize, WiChorus, Networks in Motion, and Kazeon.

    Exar Buys Neterion
    Fremont-based Exar said this morning it is in a definitive agreement to acquire Sunnyvale-based Neterion, a developer of 10 Gigabit Ethernet network adapters supporting I/O virtualization. According to Exar, it will pay somewhere between $10M and $11M net of cash received for Neterion. Exar said the acquisition would complement the firm's existing solutions. Neterion was headed by Todd Oseth, and was venture backed by Menlo Ventures, VenGrowth, BDC Venture Capital, JAFCO Ventures, (More info...)
