    CalStar Products Gets $15M
    Newark, California-based CalStar Products, a developer of green building materials, including brick and hardscape pavers, said last week that it has raised $15M in an investment rond from Nth Power, along with The Westley Group, Clearpoint Capital, Foundation Capital, and EnerTech Capital. CalStar develops pavers which it says use 85 percent energy, and 85 percent less carbon dioxide in manufacturing. The firm's products are based on fly ash, rather than traditional clay or concrete.

    Soompi Nabs $282K For Korean Music Site
    San Francisco-based Soompi, an online community focused on Korean pop music, has scored $282,077 in funding, according to a regulatory filing by the firm Monday. Details on the funding were not released by Soompi. The firm is headed by Joyce Kim.

    Picnik Acquired by Google
    Seattle-based Picnik, which provides an online photo editing tool, said Monday that it has been acquired by Google. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Picnik said its team will continue to work on photo editing tools, but did not say if the service would remain as a stand-alone or would be integrated with one of Google's other photo services. The firm was started in 2005, and had 20 employees.

    Loggly Gets $500K
    San Francisco-based Loggly, which operates a software-as-a-service log aggregation service for IT managers, has raised $500,000 in a round of funding from True Ventures. The firm had announced the raise in December, without an amount, which was disclosed in a regulatory filing by the firm last week.

    Lumenergi Names Sales VP
    Newark, California-based Lumenergi, a developer of network lighting and control systems, said today that it has hired ona VP of Sales. The firm said that it has hired Peter Weller, previously at Luminus Devices, to the position. Weller has also served at GTE Sylvania. Lumenergi has previously raised funding from Low Carbon Accelerator and Noventi.

    Agilent Targets DNA Identification, For Fish
    Santa Clara-based testing and measurement firm Agilent has rolled out--among a slew of product announcements today--a system for identifying seafood and fish. According to Agilent, it has created a new system which can match fish species in food products, used for verifying seafood labeling and detecting species substitutions by suppliers.     NexTag Taps Orbitz Founder Katz As CEO
    San Mateo-based comparison shopping site NexTag announced today that it has named Jeffrey G. Katz as the firm's new CEO. Katz was most recently Chairman, President, and CEO of LeapFrog Enterprises, the firm behind the Leapfrog educational products. Katz also was Chairman and founding CEO of Orbitz, and served at Swissair and SABRE.
