    Threadbox Sold To MySpace
    Palo Alto-based email threading and messaging startup Threadbox announced Tuesday that it has been acquired by MySpace. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Threadbox said that certain assets of the firm were sold to MySpace, and that key members of the firm's team will now be applying their technology at MySpace. The firm was previously known as CC:betty.

    Zimride Raises $1.2M
    San Francisco-based Zimride, which operates an online community and service for ride sharing, has raised $1.2M in funding. The funding came from Floodgate, K9 Ventures, Teddy Downey and Keith Rabois. Zimride's service, which is available schools, companies, and events, allows users to find a way to share rides using a private social network. The firm's customers include Stanford University, UCLA, the University of Michigan, CIGNA, and USC.

    VSS Monitoring Taps Into $20M
    Burlingame-based VSS Monitoring, a developer of distributed network traffic capture products for data centers, said Tuesday that it raised $20M in a first institutional round of funding. The round came from Battery Ventures. According to the firm, the funding will go towards R&D, customer and partner support, and sales and marketing. Neeraj Agrawal and Alex Benik of Battery Ventures have joined the company's board of directors along with the funding round.

    OCZ Technology Group Abandons Commodity DRAM
    San Jose-based OCZ Technology Group, a developer of computer memory and solid state disk drives, said Tuesday that it has made a "strategic decision" to discontinue certain commodity level DRAM module products. The firm said it will instead focus on specialty and high-performance memory offerings, and particularly its solid state drive (SSD) segment.     Yahoo Rolls Over To Bing
    Yahoo is now officially using of Microsoft's search engine, Bing, for its back-end search results, Bing said today. According to Bing, it is now powering Yahoo's search results in the US and Canada, in English. The two had announced in July that they had begun testing the transition of Yahoo to use Bing. Bing said that it will be supporting other language results "the weeks and months ahead."
