    Six Apart Buys Pownce, Shuts It Down


    San Francisco-based Pownce, a provider of an instant messaging service similar to Twitter, said today that it has been acquired by Six Apart. According to the firm, it will be closing its service, with founders Leah Culver and Mike Malone joining Six Apart. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.Culver said in a blog post that the firm will be closing down the main Pownce website on December 15th, telling users that they need to export their Pownce messages by that date.
