Ugobe Raises $8M In Series B Funding

Ugobe, an Emeryville-based firm developing life-like robotic technology for the consumer market, has raised an $8M Series B round of funding, silicontap.com has learned. The firm's founders include Caleb Chung, inventor of the Furby. The round is the second for the firm, which raised a Series A round of funding worth $2.7M. Investors in the round were not disclosed, however the firm's investors include the Band of Angels and First Round Capital, among others. The firm's "Pleo" product is expected to be available soon. The firm says that Pleo pre-orders will begin on December 24, for delivery in March 2007, and that Pleo will debut on store shelves at the same time. Update: The firm tells us that the Series B is still in the process of closing.
