San Francisco-based Omidyar Network, the philanthropic investment firm started by eBay founder Pierre Omidyar, said today it has granted $2M to the Wikimedia Foundation, the nonprofit behind Wikipedia. According to the firm, Matt Halprin of Omidyar has been appointed to the board of trustees of the Wikimedia Foundation.
