Alameda-based Wind River said earlier this week that it has signed an agreement to acquire a Canadian software firm, Tilcon Software Limited. According to Wind River, it will pay $3.5M in cash for Tilcon. Tilcon develops software for creating graphical user interfaces in embedded devices. Wind River said it will use the acquisition to enhance its VxWorks and Wind River LInux software. Both VxWorks and Wind River Linux are heavily used real time, embedded operating systems.
