Cell-Ed Finds $1.5M For Worker Training

Palo Alto-based "Cell-Ed, which is developing mobile software to help low-sklled workers improve their language, job skills, and digital literacy, has raised $1.5M in seed funding, the company said on Monday. The funding was led by Lumina Impact Ventures, and also included Strada Education Innovation Fund, Partners Group Impact (Verein), and Twilio.org Impact Fund. The startup, led by CEO and founder Jessica Rothenberg-Aalami, says that its software works on voice and SMS devices, ranging from basic flip phones to smartphones, with the aim of helping low-skilled adulsts to gain skills.
