D2S Gets $9M
Direct2Silicon (D2S), a maker of semiconductor design and production software, announced Wednesday that it has wrapped up a second round of venture financing in excess of $9 million. The San Jose, Calif.-based firm credited existing investors Benchmark Capital and DAG Ventures with leading the Series B effort. Other Series A backers also participated, D2S noted, including Advantest Corp. and Cadence Design Systems Inc. D2S said the Series B money will fund development of its design-for-e-beam technology, which helps semiconductor manufacturers speed time to market while controlling mask costs. In a related move, D2S said Nick Pianim, DAG Ventures' managing director, has joined D2S' board of directors. More information »
