Google's CSquared Gets New Investors
CSquared, an effort started at Google in 2013 to bring high speed, urban fiber to Africa, has signed up three new partners as investors in the effort, Google said today, adding Convergence Partners, International Finance Corporation (IFC), and Mitsui & Co., Ltd. in what Google called a new, "four-way partnership". CSquared is working on bringing high-speed fiber to Ghana and Uganda, and so far has installed fiber routes in Kampala and Entebbe, plus Accra, Tema, and Kumasi. CSquared was originally created by Google in 2011 as "Project Link." Photo: Workers in Ghana installing fiber for CSquared.
