San Francisco-based Engage.com, an online dating web site, has closed a first round of venture funding. Funding was led by Founders Fund and Revolution Ventures. Amount of the investment was not disclosed. Engage is looking to use friends and family to help matchmake couples. Founders Fund is the investment arm of Peter Thiel and Ken Howery, co-founders of PayPal. Engage.com said that it would use the funding to support key organizational functions, customer acquisition and product development and roll-out.
