Redmond, Washington-based Microsoft and Palo Alto, California-based Facebook announced this morning that they are in a strategic alliance, where Microsoft will provide advertising to users of Facebook, the popular college social networking site. Microsoft will be the exclusive provider of banner advertising and sponsored link on the Facebook site. Terms were not disclosed. The two will use Microsoft's adCenter platform for the advertising. The companies said that they began discussions on the relationship only last week, and expect the new advertising to appear in early fall.
