San Jose-based PlayPhone, a provider of mobile content distribution products, said that it has raised $9.1M from Menlo Ventures in a Series B funding. Current investor Cardinal Venture Partners also participated. PlayPhone provides a service that allows users to purchase ringtones, images and premium mobile games. PlayPhone has relationships inked with I-Play, Glu Mobile, Vivendi Mobile Games, Gameloft, Real Networks, Sega Mobile, Konami Mobile, Digital Chocolate, Bandai Wireless and others.
