Motorola Buys Netopia
Motorola said today that it has acquired Emeryville-based Netopia, in a transcation worth approximately $208M. Netopia is a provider of braodband premise equipment and software for DSL networks. Motorola will pay $7.00 in cash for each share of Netopia common stock. Motorola said the acquisition will complement the firm's existing portfolio of solutions for the telecommunications industry. Netopia will become a part of Motorola's Connected Home Solutions business. The acquisition is expected to be complete in early 2007.
