PricewaterhouseCoopers and the National Venture Capital Association have released their Q4 2006 numbers, reporting Silicon Valley had $2.1B in 260 deals in the quarter, by far leading the nation in the number and amount of venture related deals. Nationally, $5.7B was invested in the quarter in total, in 802 deals. For the year, there was $25.5B in investments, the highest level of investment since 2001. The areas with biggest growth for the quarter were the life sciences sector, as well as Media/Entertainment, Energy, and Internet-specific companies.
