San Carlos-based Tesla Motors has raised $45M in a Series D investment round, the company said Friday. The developer of a high performance electric car said that the round was led by Technology Partners and Elon Musk. Other investors in the round included Capricorn Investment Group, Vantage Point Venture Partners, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, JP Morgan Bay Area Equity Fund, Valor Equity Partners and Compass Venture Partners. Tesla said the funding will go towards continued development of the firm's five passenger, 4 door sports sedan. Ira Ehrenpreis of Technology Partners and Antonia Gracias of Valor Equity Partners have joined the firm's board as part of the funding.
