Dow Jones VentureOne is reporting this morning that U.S. venture capital fundraising plunged in Q2, dropping 62% versus the same time last year. The firm, which analyzes venture capital dealflow and fundraising, said that $3.23B was raised in the second quarter of 2007. For the year, there has been $6.36B raised by venture capital firms. The biggest raises for Q2 were Institutional Venture Partners and Venrock, who both raised $600M funds, and VentureOne also reported that four other firms closed funds worth more than $250M.
