Mountain View-based Google is funding a $30M prize from the X Prize Foundation, the group behind the Ansari X Prize, which put the first commercial spaceship into orbit. The X Prize Foundation said yesterday that the new prize will offer $30M to a company which can put a robotic rover on the moon, which can beam back video, images, and data while wandering across the surface. The X Prize Foudation said that the deadline for the prize is December 31st, 2012.
