SimCity Adds Global Warming In Deal With BP
Redwood City-based Electronic Arts and energy giant BP said Wednesday that the two are in a collaboration to include climate change education in its upcoming SimCity Societies game. As part of the deal, EA and BP have agreed to feature BP's logos on clean energy sources within the game, including hydrogen and natural gas plants, wind farms, and solar power. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Simcity Societies, which is due November 15th, is the latest in EA's SimCity line of games, which allow users to simulate the growth and development of cities. In SimCity Socities, one of the variables in the game is a "carbon rating" which affects disasters light droughts, heat waves, and others. BP owns BP Alternative Energy, which has hydrogen, solar, and natural gas energy assets.
