Oracle Offers To Buy BEA Systems
Redwood Shores-based Oracle said this morning that it has offered to buy San Jose-based business software maker BEA Systems for $17.00 per share in cash, a deal worth approximately $6.66B. According to Oracle, it delivered the offer to BEA Systems on Tuesday, and that the offer is a 25% premium over BEA's closing stock price yesterday. BEA Systems is a maker of business process management, SOA, and other software tools used by enterprises; the firm's WebLogic software is widely used by companies for application deployment of Java software.
