Ooyala Gets $100K From Amazon
Mountain View-based Ooyala, a startup developing a service to help publishers deliver video content, has scored $100,000 plus a possible investment from Amazon.com, in a contest run by Amazon. Amazon Web Services, the Internet web services firm which is a subsidiary of Amazon.com, said last night that it awarded $50,000 in cash plus $50,000 in Amazon Web Service credits to Ooyala as part of the Amazon Web Services Start-Up Challenge. Amazon did not disclose if it had made an investment in Ooyala yet. Ooyala is using Amazon EC2, Amazon FPS, and the Amazon Mechanical Turk and Amazon SQS services as part of its services.
