Atmel Buys Quantum Research
San Jose-based Atmel said Wednesday that it is in a $88M deal to acquire Quantum Research Group Ltd. Quantum provides capacitive sensing intellectual property for user interfaces. The deal includes $88M in cash plus up to $42M in cash and Atmel common stock in earn out. Hal Philipp, CEO of Quantum Research Group, will join Atmel as part of the acquisition.
