Santa Clara-based Kickfire, which develops an open-source appliance for the MySQL database market, said today that it has raised $20M in a Series B financing. The round was led by Pinnacle Ventures, and also included prior investors Accel Partners, Greylock Partners, and the Mayfield Fund. Accordnig to the firm, the new funding will go to build out sales, marketing, and customer operations infrastructure. Kickfire's MySQL appliance uses hardware acceleration to improve the speed of MySQL-based databases.
