Mountain View-based Google said late Monday that it has released a new, open source browser, Google Chrome. According to Google, the new browser was built from scratch, and is a "modern platform for web pages and applications." The new browser provides isolated, tabbed browsing, a powerful JavaScript engine, and more. The browser currently is available as a beta for Windows, although the firm says that it has versions in the works for Mac and Linux.
