PicApp Raises $3.2M
San Francisco-based PicApp said late Thursday that the firm has raised $3.2M in a funding round for the firm's service for providing photos for online publishers. According to the firm, Carmel Ventures led the round in the firm, which came in conjunction with a deal to provide sports blogging network Yardbarker with its images. Carmel Ventures' Rina Shainski joins PicApp's board of directors, as does angel investors Yair Goldfinger and Lenny Recanati. PicApp is a spinout from PicScout, and maintains is development and operations center in Herzelia, Israel. The firm's services compete with similar services from GumGum.
