Redwood City-based Silver Spring Networks, which develops "smart grid" technology used by electric utilities, has raised $75M in a new investment round from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, KPCB said Tuesday. According to KPCB, the investment came out of its Green Growth Fund. The funding also includes prior investors Foundation Capital, JCB Properties, and Northgate Capital. Ben Kortlang of KPCB's green Growth Fund joins the baord, with John Doerr and Al Gore joining Silver Spring Networks' advisory baord.
