Mountain View-based Google said Wednesday night that it is shutting down Lively, the firm's experiment in creating virtual worlds and chat rooms. Lively--which was only launched in July, out of the firm's Google Labs effort--offered the ability for users to create their own "virtual rooms" where they could chat with friends and create avatars. Google said that it made the move because it wanted to prioritize its resources, and focus on its core search, ads, and apps business.
