Meraki Rolls Solar-Powere WiFi Device
San Francisco-based Meraki said today that it has rolled out a new, self-powered WiFi mesh device which uses its own solar panel and solar-charged battery. Meraki's said its new Meraki Solar device is targeted at providing Wi-Fi coverage to outdoors locations, such as golf courses, parks, business districts, and elsewhere. The firm, which is venture backed by Sequoia Capital and Google, said it wireless device runs on a LIthium Iron Phosphate battery, and has been deployed by the Harvard Square Business Association. Meraki's wireless devices create their own mesh network. The new device will cost from $848 to $1497, depending on solar panel size.
