Mountain View-based social networking site Friendster reports this morning that it has opend up new offices in Asia, as part of an expansion into the region. The firm said it has opened up offices in Singapore and Sydney, Australia, among other moves. Friendster's new CEO, Richard Kimber, will be based in the Sydney office, along with marketing, sales, and business development, and the firm said that at least 80% of its new hires this year will be in Asia. The move further cements the move of Friendster to focus on non-US markets; the company reports that since 2008, the majority of its employees are now in the ASia Pacific region. The firm's offices there include a location in the Phillipines; the company said it will continue to house members of its executive staff in Mountain View.
