Gmail Goes Offline
Mountain View-based Google had a snafu at the firm's popular web-based email service, Gmail, overnight, with users reporting that the service was down for several hours. The service went down sometime around 1:30am--when most people in the U.S. were asleep--and as of this morning was restored. In an official statement from Google, the firm said that 9:30 am GMT, the firm's monitoring systems started seeing that both consumer and businesses accounts were not able to be accessed, except those using Gmail Labs. No reason for the downtime was given.
