Riya Shuts Facial Recognition Efforts
San Mateo-based
Riya
, which offered an online facial recognition service for photos, has shut down its Riya.com web site, which allows users to tag their friends in photos. The firm--which continues to operate visual search service Like.com--told its users that it no longer is offering the facial recognition service due to widespread availability of similar features from Picasa and iPhoto 9.
