Trident Microsystems is in a deal to buy NXP Semiconductors' television systems and set-top box businesses, the firms announced today. The two said that NXP will receive approximately 6.7 million shares of shares in Trident, and NXP will buy approximately $30M in shares from Trident as part of the deal, with NXP owning 60% of Trident's total shares outstanding after the deal closes. Trident said the acquisition would boost its 2009 revenues to approximately $500M.
