Google Aims At GPS Manufacturers, Adds Navigation For Android
Google has added turn-by-turn navigation capabilities to its Google Maps for mobile on Android 2.0 devices, the firm said today, bolstering capabilities in the online mapping service. According to Google, the new version of its mobile Google Maps software now provides typical features like 3D views, turn-by-turn voice guidance, and automatic rerouting, similar to GPS navigation systems. Google said it is leveraging Internet connections to pull up-to-date maps and listings directly from Google Maps, eliminating the need for map upgrades or device updates.
