The United States Attorney's Office of the Northern District of California said this week that it has indicted the former CEO of
YouSendIt, Khalid Shaikh, with four counts of mail fraud, stemming from four denial-of-service (DoS) attacks against his former company. According to the Attorney's Office, the attacks came between December 2008 and June 2009. Shaikh was one of the firm's founders when it was started in 2004, but departed in November of 2006. Shaikh now faces up to five years of imprisonment, and three years of suprivsed release and a fine of $250,00 for each count of mail fraud. YouSendIt is backed by Alloy Ventures, Cambrian Ventures, Emergence Capital Partners, Sevin Rosen Funds, and Sigma Partners.
