Zynga Launches Social Goods Effort
San Francisco-based social gaming firm Zynga reported today that the firm is launching a social goods initiative, where purchases of virtual goods in several of its games will benefit two nonprofits in Haiti. The firm said that it will donate 50 percent of the proceeeds from social virtual goods within its online games running on Facebook and other platforms to FATEM and Fonkoze. FATEM provides food and helps build school kitchens in Haiti; FOnkoze provides micro-financing in Haiti.
