Avistar Sells Patent Portfolio
San Mateo-based Avistar, a developer of desktop videoconferencing technology, has sold its patent portfolio in a deal worth $11M. According to Avistar, it sold the majority of its patent portfolio to Intellectual Ventures, a patent firm run by former Microsoft CTO Nathan Myhrvold, in a cash deal. The firm said it has licensed back its patents.
